What we removed on purpose

Most cover letter templates online look designed but fail the moment a parser touches them or a recruiter skims them. Every template here avoids the traps below.

  • Multi-column layouts — parsers read columns as one continuous line
  • Tables and text boxes — content is often dropped or reordered
  • Icons, images, and graphs — most ATS strip them entirely
  • Headers and footers for critical info like your email or phone
  • Fancy or condensed fonts — Times, Arial, Calibri, Georgia are safe
  • Generic openers like 'To whom it may concern' — name the team or hiring manager

How to use these templates

  1. 1. Match the resume template. Use the same header, font, and accent as your resume — recruiters skim both in seconds.
  2. 2. Personalize the opener. Name the company and the specific role. Skip "To whom it may concern."
  3. 3. Lead with a metric. A quantified win in the first paragraph beats any adjective.
  4. 4. Mirror the job description. Use 3–5 exact keywords from the posting, in your own sentences.
  5. 5. Keep it under one page. 250–350 words is the sweet spot.
